first_imgWama arrived in PNG last week and is training hard to earn a spot in the starting line-up for round 6 of the Telikom National Soccer League competition.He is no stranger to Hekari, having been scouted many years ago when playing soccer in Kimbe.The lad, of Southern Highlands and West New Britain parentage, left for the United States to study digital media marketing at the Maranatha Baptist University. He is in his third year of studies.“Playing in the US has helped me become a better player,” said Wama.He said that he decided to put his studies on hold to try to secure his position in the Hekari team that will take part in the 2016 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League in New Zealand next month.This plus achieving his dream of wearing the red, black and yellow to represent PNG on home soil at the OFC Nations Cup that will be played in Port Moresby in May next year.“The last time I played at the Nations Cup was in 2012 and I’m looking to represent the country again,” he said.last_img read more
