first_imgA Donegal artist is to make waves on Times Square when her work is exhibited to an audience of hundreds of thousands of people in the heart of New York next week.Ramelton woman Zara McDaid, who works as an art teacher in Magh Ene College, Bundoran, also stands a chance of scooping a $10,000 prize as well as featuring in a limited edition “Art Takes Times Square” book which will be distributed worldwide.Zara qualified for the exciting and unique exhibition having come through a public vote before a panel of judges selected the work to be put on display in bright lights on the iconic massive billboards of Times Square. The grand prize winner will be revealed on Monday, June 18th at the Times Square VIP premiere.The Grand Prize Artist will be selected by an esteemed panel of jurors: Dan Burns, Associate Director of Galerie Lelong; Clara Drummond, Independent Curator; Jack Becker, Executive Director of Forecast Public Art & Public Art Review; Cosmin Costinas, Executive Director and Curator of Para/Site Art Space; and Natasha Conland, Curator of Contemporary Art at Auckland Art Gallery.All exhibited artists will receive a stunning online portfolio and hundreds will be shown at the Artists Wanted after-party featuring Questlove of the Roots / Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
