People frequently beef that you can order almost anything in the world on Amazon, but you can’t have a conversation with a real human being at the ecommerce giant. The inability to easily talk to a person is a flaw shared by many financial institutions’ websites, according to Alyson Clarke, Principal Analyst at Forrester.“You can’t find a phone number anywhere,” says Clarke of the typical financial institution site. “The avenue of help is hidden. It’s kind of gone away.” Too often, the push is towards self-service.This is important because for both full-service and online-only banking institutions the ability to make an emotional connection with an employee is critical for maintaining an ongoing relationship, according to a research report by Clarke and August du Pont, Researcher at Forrester. But Amazon does something many financial institutions haven’t mastered, or do at all: solid chat. “Mason Pratt came up to me after the football game, and he was like ‘listen man, I saw your eyes,'” said Fabi. “I told him I thought I was done and he said ‘don’t do that.'” “If you let it get to you, there’s going to be a problem because then you just keep going on that downward slope,” said Fabi. “There’s going to be bad days. But if you stay positive through most of them, you’re going to be fine.” In May, Fabi announced his decision to continue playing football at Ithaca College. Fabi said he chose Ithaca because they were interested in more than his stats. As of right now, Ithaca College is scheduled to begin classes on time and in person. Fabi will begin training with his team in small groups for a possible spring season. The Section IV semifinal loss left the Owego senior questioning his future, until a conversation with his teammate changed his mind. “They had the most passion toward me. They asked me about my personal life, how school is for me,” he said. Rather than be defeated, Fabi pushed himself to keep training. “I kind of reacted to it slowly and was just like well I guess the only positive to take away from it is it gives you more time to get ready,” said Fabi. “I was really relying on lacrosse for my conditioning aspect because I’m running for two straight hours and going into that for college I would be perfectly fine,” said Fabi. Fabi adjusted to conditioning on his own. (WBNG) — Gio Fabi almost gave up on playing football. “I did take two days off but then I got right back to it because I know if I got into the two days off, three days off then four days off, it was just going to keep building into a week, two weeks, so I’ve just kind of kept going,” said Fabi. With no way of knowing when he’ll take the field as an Ithaca Bomber, Fabi is keeping his head up. “Like” Nicole Menner on Facebook and “Follow” her on Twitter. “Having to do it on my own and having limited gym access is hard, but I’m fighting my way through it,” he said. “The last M-E (Maine-Endwell) game, when we lost I kind of sat in the end zone and told myself that my body was done,” said Fabi. Signing to Ithaca was a bright spot after his senior year was tainted by the pandemic. Fabi missed out on a lot of big moments, including his senior lacrosse season. Then last week, the Liberty League announced the fall sports season was suspended, leaving Fabi with no football season his first semester.
White House hopeful Joe Biden on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious, $2 trillion climate change plan that would revamp the US energy sector and seek to achieve carbon pollution-free power in just 15 years. The clean energy proposal was fleshed out in a speech in Wilmington as the veteran Democrat drew a sharp contrast with President Donald Trump ahead of November’s election by arguing that fighting climate change would be a massive job creator under a Biden administration.Insisting that “there’s no more consequential challenge” today than climate change, Biden pledged to spend $2 trillion over four years to promote his plan, a dramatic acceleration of the $1.7 trillion he had proposed to spend over 10 years during the primary race. He reiterated that he would rejoin the Paris climate agreement that Trump quit in 2017, fund the construction of 1.5 million new energy efficient homes, upgrade appliance standards and prioritize renewable energy.”We’re not just going to tinker around the edges,” Biden said.”I know meeting the challenge will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to jolt new life into our economy.”Biden said he would reverse some 100 steps by Trump to roll back environmental regulations. He also recalled parts of his earlier climate proposal that would put the nation on the road to net zero emissions economy-wide no later than 2050. Topics : “Transforming the American electrical sector to produce power without producing carbon pollution… will be the greatest spurring of job creation and economic competitiveness in the 21st century,” Biden said. “That’s why we’re going to achieve a carbon pollution-free electric sector by the year 2035.”The plan also includes more ambitious goals than the proposal he released months ago when he ran as one of the more moderate Democrats in the party’s nomination race.By embracing some ideas of his progressive ex-rivals, including Senator Bernie Sanders and Washington Governor Jay Inslee, Biden appears intent on winning over progressive voters who might be wary of the former vice president’s more centrist positions. ‘Extreme’ Trump delivered a rebuttal hours later, accusing Biden of launching a “hard-left crusade against American energy” and pushing a platform “that would demolish the US economy.””He wants no oil and gas,” Trump said as he criticized Biden’s plan to reduce carbon emissions. One week earlier Biden unveiled a unity platform that incorporated positions from leftist Sanders, but Trump attacked it as “the most extreme platform of any major party nominee, by far, in American history.”Biden, who has refrained from campaigning publicly amid coronavirus outbreaks, berated Trump for failing to contain a pandemic which has killed 136,000 Americans, or set the right example by wearing a mask, something Trump finally did on Saturday.”I’m glad he made the shift,” Biden said of Trump appearing in a mask.”But Mr President, it’s not enough. We won’t be able to turn the corner and get the American people back to work safely without presidential leadership.”Biden leads Trump on most issues, according to polling, but voters still see the president as stronger on steering the US economy.

The UK government has today launched a consultation on improving outcomes for defined contribution (DC) pension schemes, which encourages investment in a more diverse range of long-term assets, including illiquid products such as venture capital and green infrastructure. The consultation, which runs until 30 October 2020, is the government’s response to the February 2019 consultation Investment Innovation and Future Consolidation. In addition to promoting investment portfolio diversification, it also consults further on changes to regulations and statutory guidance designed to improve DC pension scheme governance, and signal the UK’s commitment to transparent disclosure to scheme members.Under diversification, the government is proposing amendments to the charge cap to accommodate performance fees in order to facilitate investment in illiquid investments, and “to put the exclusion of physical assets on a statutory footing”, it said. “We also announce our intention to develop a further alternative option for schemes to use in calculating performance fees, to facilitate investment in less liquid assets such as venture capital,” it added.Guy Opperman, minister for pensions and financial inclusion, said: “We want all pensions scheme members to benefit from efficient administration, first class investment governance, and access to diversified investment strategies.”He added that it is important to “encourage scale and innovation by pension schemes, and help drive new investment in important sectors of the economy as we build back better”.LCP welcomed the government’s relaxation of charge cap rules which should free up further interest and support for illiquid assets.“It’s also interesting to see the greater clarity and support to hold physical assets outside of the charge cap restrictions, clearly highlighting the intent to allow infrastructure focused investments. The charge cap relaxations and clarities offered are going to help significantly with enhancing investment strategy design,” the consultancy added.ConsolidationAdditional steps to encourage the consolidation of smaller pension schemes into larger schemes are also included in the consultation.“We believe consolidation is the most effective way to ensure that all savers are receiving the best value from well governed schemes that can achieve economies of scale,” the consultation paper noted, adding that consolidation will also deliver greater opportunities for members to access a more diverse range of investment products and investment strategies.Of around 3,000 DC schemes on The Pensions Regulator’s (TPR) register, approximately 2,150 have 100 members or less. Of these, approximately 850 have between 12 and 100 members and 1,300 have less than 12 members. Most smaller schemes are also paying higher charges than larger schemes, with average charges in smaller schemes nearly double that of the largest schemes. Members of some of these smaller schemes are therefore likely to achieve better value in a larger scheme, the paper concluded.“We propose that the new value for members assessment applies for schemes with less than £100m in total assets that have been operating for at least three years at the end of the previous scheme year from when their chair’s statement falls due,” it said.LCP believes the £100m (€106m) mark for smaller schemes “seems a good level for requiring them to assess whether they offer value for money compared to the market”.The full consultation can be found here.Looking for IPE’s latest magazine? Dubai: A strong bowling performance followed by some power-packed batting saw India thrash arch rivals Pakistan by eight wickets in their Group A clash of the Asia Cup cricket tournament here on Wednesday.Asked to field first, three-wicket hauls from pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and part-time off-spinner Kedar Jadhav enabled India to restrict Pakistan to a paltry 162. Bhuvneshwar returned figures of 3/15 while Jadhav got 3/23.In reply, a quickfire half-century by Rohit Sharma and his 86-run opening stand with Shikhar Dhawan saw India comfortably overhaul the target with a whopping 21 overs to spare.Rohit plundered 52 runs off 39 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and three sixes along the way.Dhawan scored 46 runs off 54 balls before a loose shot to a Faheem Ashraf delivery handed an easy catch to Babar Azam at point.Following the duo’s departure, Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthick ensured that India crossed the line without losing any more wickets.Earlier, the Pakistan batsmen never really found any momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Pakistan got off to a slow start and could only manage 25/2 in the first 10 overs.Man of the match Bhuvneshwar sent back openers Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman early on to leave Pakistan struggling with two wickets down after 4.1 overs with just two runs on the board.Shoiab Malik and Babar Azam then got going well and negotiated the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal — who went wicketless — and Kuldeep well. The pair stitched together an 82-run stand for the third wicket.Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav triggered Pakistan’s slide with a brilliantly executed wrong un’ that outfoxed Pakistan’s best batsman Babar Azam (47) when he was looking good along with Shoaib Malik (43).Jadhav removed Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed (6) around the halfway mark of the first innings before accounting for Asif Ali (9) and Shadab Khan (8). That saw Pakistan, who were relatively comfortably placed at 85/2 at one point, collapsing to 121/7.From then on, Pakistan could never recover.Brief scores:Pakistan: 162 in 43.1 overs (Babar Azam 47, Shoaib Malik 43; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3/15, Kedar Jadhav 3/23).India: 164/2 in 29 overs (Rohit Sharma 52, Shikhar Dhawan 46)(IANS)

by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Wellington head coach Tyler Ryan has been a head football coach for six years now – three of those in Wellington. He said in those six years, he never had a player suffer an ACL tear. Now he has seen two in consecutive weeks.Austin DunnThe diagnosis came back on Wellington senior running back Austin Dunn’s knee Wednesday and it was an ACL tear much to the chagrin of the Crusader Nation. He is out for the year. This marks the second consecutive week Wellington suffered a huge loss. Andrew Pelkey, a starting linebacker, is out for the season with an ACL tear after the season opener. You can’t sugar coat this one. This is a blow to the WHS football program. Dunn was the zig to Wellington’s throwing zag. He was a power back and kept the defenses honest thus allowing Trevor Nance to throw more openly to his receivers. He was good for a 3-yard pickup for a first down. But you know what? That’s football and now Wellington must come up with another plan. Ryan said he will be using the running back by committee approach for the rest of the season. Connor Phelps, who was playing a lot of receiver, will be repositioned at running back. Lane Beard and Jaden Hines will share carries in the running back spot.“The benefit to having 19 seniors is it makes it easier to replace someone else,†Ryan said.Elsewhere, Wellington is looking a little bit beat up as well. Ryan would not elaborate, but there are boys with some sprains and bruises.Although losing these two starters is a terrible blow, if you are a glass is half-full kind of guy, this might be the best time for it. The Crusaders are not embarking on their toughest part of the schedule. If Wellington can convalesce and adjust these next two weeks, that could help them when Andale comes to town in three weeks. The Crusaders travel to Circle this Friday at 7 p.m.Circle has had a rough start, losing to Chapman 47-19 and Wichita Collegiate 35-6. Circle has also been the one team Wellington has had its most success against over the past couple of years. Wellington won its first game under Ryan in 2012 with a 36-12 victory in Towanda. Last season, Wellington was 3-0 after a 43-0 shellacking at Sellers Park. This doesn’t mean Wellington is guaranteed victory tomorrow night. Circle has potential.“They have a nice back who is 190 pounds by the name of Justin Wright,†Ryan said. “He’s got great speed and endurance. He can hurt us.’Again, this will be a team with a flex bone offense similar to those run by Augusta and Goddard Eisenhower.“They have some speed,†Ryan said. 6412Alejandro VargasOL6’0185 209Trey CaryRB5’8135 312Adam ConditTE6’1190 3412Austin DunnRB6’0210 Series history: Wellington is 11-1 against Circle and 2-0 under Ryan, who graduated from the school.Circle (11-1)2000 – Wellington 35 Circle 02001 – Wellington 34 Circle 72001 – Wellington 35 Circle 7 district2002 – Wellington 45 Circle 02003 – Wellington 33 Circle 72006 – Wellington 7 Circle 32007 – Wellington 21 Circle 02008 – Wellington 33 Circle 82009 – Wellington 23 Circle 182010 – Wellington 19 Circle 382011 – Wellington 57 Circle 192012 – Wellington 36 Circle 122013 – Wellington 43 Circle 0 6210Chance WilsonOL5’5165 10-3 Andale Home 1510Carson LeGrandWR5’8145 7112Skylar BrandOL5’11220 811Monty BannisterRB5’10140 269Ethan RedfordRB5’6140 Follow the game: Internet: Live twitter blogs on this site, Sumner Newscow.
