In the past, you have heard my concern over athletics not being fun for kids any more. Many sport leagues are so intense these days that young athletes get burned out before they ever reach high school. The Batesville Babe Ruth League is offering a fun activity this fall that involves baseball and softball. The games will be played during September and October and will be made available for athletes who want to have some fun recreation on weekends. Games will be scheduled when enough athletes are available to compete. They will be making every effort to avoid any conflicts with those students who are involved in a school sport. No pressure will be placed on those participating. If the League is able to accomplish this goal, it will allow the athletes some fun time and will also give them some extra practice for next years summer leagues. I think it just might work.
